David Boettcher is Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and is tasked with building and leading a team focused on optimizing financial performance through strategic acquisitions and partnerships, the use of third-party capital, and the enhancement of returns or divestiture of in-force business. Prior to his current role, David served as Chief Operating Officer for 69É«Ç鯬 Global Financial 69É«Ç鯬 (GFS), where he led a team of regional business leaders and had overall responsibility and accountability for GFS business written globally. Much of David’s time was devoted to business development, market research, new product initiatives and the underwriting of new business.
David’s more than 35 years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry give him deep and broad global knowledge of the life insurance industry’s financial needs. Prior to the 2010 creation of the Global Financial 69É«Ç鯬 unit, David led 69É«Ç鯬 International Division’s Capital and Financial 69É«Ç鯬 unit, which successfully placed both 69É«ÇéÆ¬â€™s first asset-intensive reinsurance transaction outside the U.S. and 69É«ÇéÆ¬â€™s first global longevity transaction. David was also a key participant in 69É«ÇéÆ¬â€™s rapid growth and success internationally: as the International Division’s Chief Actuary prior to 2008, he oversaw all aspects of pricing and actuarial support.
Before joining 69É«Ç鯬 in 1998, David held several actuarial leadership positions in product development, pricing, corporate taxation and financial reporting for Manulife, North American Life and Dominion Life.
David earned his Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) degree from the University of Waterloo. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
