Howard Liao is Senior Managing Director – Head of Private Debt & Equity for 69É«ÇéƬ. As a member of 69É«ÇéƬ’s Investment Leadership Team, Howard draws on his deep investment knowledge, strategic acumen, and leadership experience to identify and develop future growth and innovation opportunities for 69É«ÇéƬ’s Private Debt & Equity team.
Before joining 69É«ÇéƬ, Howard served as Chief Investment Officer and Senior Managing Director of Medley Capital LLC, a private credit manager, where he led a 25-person investment team and managed a billion-dollar portfolio focused on lower middle market private credit.
Prior to joining Medley, Howard dedicated 15 years of his career to Lehman Brothers, culminating in his role as Managing Director in Private Equity & Principal Investments. He played a pivotal role as a founding member of Lehman Brothers Global Mezzanine Partners. Additionally, he managed the complex restructuring and exit of the private credit portfolio during the Lehman bankruptcy. Howard started his career in investment banking at Lehman Brothers, where he specialized in Leveraged Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Howard also co-founded Peak Altitude Partners and served as a senior advisor to Vancouver, B.C.-based Longhouse Capital Partners, an Indigenous-owned asset manager and strategic advisory firm that partners with Canada’s First Nations.
Howard earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and obtained an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
