Peter Barrett is Senior Vice President and Global Head of Underwriting, Claims and Medical, and is based in the U.K. He oversees the claims function across 69É«ÇéƬ’s International Division from Europe to the Asia Pacific region.
He has worked in the life re/insurance industry since 1984 and has been involved in claims management since 1990. Prior to joining 69É«ÇéƬ in 2002, he worked for a number of direct insurers and spent 18 months as a case officer for the U.K.’s Insurance Ombudsman.
Peter earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from London University and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII) and a Fellow of the Assurance Medical Society (FAMS). He also is a past Chairman of the U.K.’s Health Claims Forum and currently is the Joint Editor and Examiner of the Chartered Insurance Institute with subject matter expertise in life and disability claims. In addition, he is a member of the Protection Committee for the Association of British Insurers and a member of the Education Committee for the Assurance Medical Society.
