Richard Leblanc is Senior Vice President, Global Acquisitions and Alliances, Corporate Development at 69É«ÇéƬ. He is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary teams in the acquisition of global in-force life and annuity blocks, and as well as run-off life insurance companies. He focuses on transaction origination, structuring, financing, negotiation, the regulatory approval process and on post-close optimization. He recently led the successful third party equity capital raise for Langhorne Re. Prior to being named to his current role, Richard joined 69É«ÇéƬ in 2009 as Vice President of Structured Finance, where he developed and implemented a series of innovative capital market financing facilities for 69É«ÇéƬ.
Richard has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry spanning the life, P&C, financial guarantee, brokerage, and risk advisory sectors. Throughout his career, Richard has led deal teams analyzing and deploying capital across a broad range of insurance portfolios. Previously Richard was the Managing Director, Structured Insurance at Ambac Assurance in New York City, where he underwrote financial guarantees for some of the most innovative life insurance linked securitizations. He also led a multi-faceted rehabilitation of a complex multi-billion financing vehicle severely impacted by the global financial crisis.
While at Manulife Financial he served as a vice president in their corporate M&A group where he evaluated a wide range of insurance, distribution and wealth management platforms in North America and Asia. Richard was previously a vice president in Manulife’s reinsurance division where his team delivered capital motivated reinsurance solutions to life reinsurers across Europe and North America. He has also served as a special risks P&C broker at Sedgwick, where he specialized in helping multinational corporations finance uninsurable risks through the use of captives and a variety of alternative risk transfer techniques.
Richard is a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois), and a Chartered Professional Accountant (Ontario), and started his career with KPMG in Toronto, Canada.
